Police mentioned they were alerted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish fluid

Approximately fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Law enforcement state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Officers then discovered numerous other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police state initial examinations show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are not yet aware of any harm in connection with the incident," they added.

City officials said they were trying "to resolve the case" and have requested to the residents for information.

An important official said the incident made him stunned and had to be resolved rapidly.

"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, referring to the killing of nine victims by a shooter targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
